You got some selling in the telecommunications related stocks today - but not tax loss selling. More due to remaining "over-inflated pig" roasting.

dailynews.yahoo.com

Ciena expcts sales to be down 40%. How can anyone expect these companis to show improvement when the telecomm giants are heavily in debt, it is a buyers market for their services, and they have announced even deper and continued scaling back on capex? The industry is in a 3-4 year slump and we are only 12-18 months into it. Telecomm will continue to slide during the first quarter of 2002 by an average of 15% before recovering toward the end of the year to finish 2002 up maybe 5% from the collapse of 2001. It may be toward the second half of 2003 before the telecomm industry is fully recovered back to it's 10 year growth trend. That does not mean that it will resume it's insane Internut bubblemania growth - or seeming growth. Valuations are high and the flood of funny mooney the FED is pumping into circulation will help support nose bleed valuations but the underpinnings of the current market remain weak.
