We had that most horrible of dialup services, AOL in 1994. fool.com Actually I thought it was quite an improvement over Compuserve which was the previous provider I had. The real trouble is the modem which ran at about 2400 baud then. Surfing the net was time consuming, it was click then go get a cup of coffee, pet the dog, check the weather forecast, then come back and see what the page looked like. Email was pretty quick but this was before instant messaging. TP
