ATT failures point out how arrogance and stupidity is bred
monopoly provides the distorted breeding ground
CEO Armstrong is not only arrogant, but abusive and micromanages
they overpaid for MediaOne by 200%
they destroyed @Home
they sold huge shares of ATTWireless to their own employees

and oligopolies like automobile and oil companies arent much better
oligopolies encourage almost no risktaking
they build bureaucracies within their organizations

but monopolies encourage thoughts of omnipotence
I hope that is Microsoft's downfall

just heard from IT guy at my firm
Microsoft is now increasing substantially their license fees for Windows2000
this enables service support
they want customers to migrate to WindowsXP
our firm is not interested in WinXP
now we must decide whether to swim without a raft
this is forced purchases of upgrades by predatory price control

arrogance, but not yet stupidity
all in the face of the Court System when antitrust violations are numerous and in legal findings

oy, jim
