Look at my original statement. It was a question. I've only been following AMD and Intel since late 1998, so I don't personally remember back that far. My knowledge on the subject is pretty secondhand. I wasn't assuming anything, just stating what I've read. What I do know about the subject does lead me to believe that by going to AMD's only market at the time, one of Intel's aims was to rid itself of AMD. Elmer's right, another was to take advantage of a new market which it had underestimated and was created by AMD. I personally happen to think that Intel owes it to its shareholders to try to eliminate AMD through market tactics. It certainly makes them a more attractive company.

I'm not a 'droid! Stop placing labels.
