Limtex, while I don't have direct experience with the Nikon slide scanner, I think the newer models are much faster. Also note that there are adaptors that will allow you to take a photo of your slide with a digital camera such as the 775. Though the results won't be as consistent as what you would get from a true slide scanner, you might be able to save a lot of money with the adaptor. In a similar vein, I use the macro capabilities of my Nikon 950 (2 mp resolution) to copy photos, and I get resolution sufficient to make the copy as good as the original, particularly when I enhance the image sharpness with Adobe PhotoShop.
