Utes + Downplayed stories - U.S. gave 6 months notice to Russia that we are withdrawing from the ABM treaty. This news will be covered up by OBL tape and JDL bomb plans. Chattering classes & anti - missle defense people will have a hard time getting coverage until after the first of the year, when they are old news. Score one to the Bush administration. Our friends the Utes - I think the market in general and utilities have a little more to fall. .10 year treasuries have moved up to about 5% again, and which would you rather have - a T-bill at 5% and sound sleep or a utility common at 6 or 8% and monsters under your bed ? I think the yield on utes will have to move up at least 50 bp - that means about an 8% drop.
