Ordinarily, one wouldn't say "Merry Christmas" to someone whom one knew to be Jewish, or otherwise not to celebrate Christmas. However, if one did not know, or said it reflexively, one might inadvertently say it to someone inappropriate. It is doubtful that anyone would take it amiss, absent some other sign of hostility. There is no inherent offense in the remark.......
