They will:

Pratt, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX - news), said the workers would return to their jobs starting Thursday afternoon.

The company said 2,954 workers voted to accept the contract offer and 990 voted against it. More than 5,000 machinists represented by the International Association of Machinists had walked off the job on Dec. 3. Pratt employs 30,000 people worldwide.

Under the new three-year contract, workers will receive a 10 percent wage increase, a 10 percent increase in the retirement benefit and a $1,000 bonus for ratifying the contract. The contract also allows employees to put the bonus into their 401(k) plans, which then requires Pratt to match with a $500 contribution.

Pratt said it expanded the voluntary retirement program to workers aged 55, down from the age requirement of 58 years.

They demand and get compensation over the next three years averaging about 6% per year which is the norm. How does that indicate we are in recession? Unions demanding inflationary compensation indicates hard times? The recession is being reserved for later after the inflation induced bust occurs.
