Would methane be a disappointment? I think the hope is to extract hydrogen and oxygen from simple electrolysis of water. Then methane rocket fuel could be manufactured from the hydrogen plus carbon form the atmosphere.

If it is methane, is it easy to separate the carbon and oxygen from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere? Anyway, from what I read today, it looks more like water cos of the sheer amount of hydrogen found. I guess the reading would be lower from methane?
