Bloomie Surrounds Himself With Dems

It turns out that New York City Mayor-elect Michael Bloomberg is a Republican in the same way Sen. Hillary Clinton is a New Yorker: in name only. One of Bloomie's biggest Republican boosters is slamming him for choosing only Democrats for his inner circle.

"I think somebody's got to voice the feelings of the Republican Party in this city," Staten Island Borough President Guy Molinari says in today's New York Post. "Since I was the first one to stand with Mike Bloomberg, I thought it was my obligation to do so."

The billionaire Bloomie, a lifelong left-wing Democrat, miraculously converted to the GOP so he could avoid a tough primary. So far he has appointed four deputy mayors, a corporation counsel and a police commissioner: all Democrats.

"He's got balance in everything else, but certainly not balance politically," Molinari said.

"The issue really is, where do the Republicans go in the future? When they support somebody, they expect that their party support translates into other things."
