Looks very promising for Intel going in to the new year - with a new process (0.12 micron) and new "Core" - the Northwood - with new SPEEDS - and new memory/chipsets (i845_DDR).

Agree on all of that, and did Intel get the 0.13 down to 0.12 à la the 0.10 to 0.09 (which AMD immediately claimed they'd do also)? Sweet, huh?

At some point, doesn't Intel need AMD around with some reasonable share of the market? If not, would it not be long before Intel became the next fed target for having a monopoly? Heck, they'll be done with microsoft soon and will be looking for something to do.
