yields collapse every time someone farts in his bunny suit

Interesting point you make. Back in the pre-copper days the Intellabees were adamant that the copper process would not work because it would just contaminate the other stages of the process. AMDs answer was their new pod-based process to reduce the exposure.

Does Intel have the same pod-based equipment as AMD installed at fab 30 or have they left themselves exposed to copper contamination problems?

Re <<This smells exactly like the botched gates PIII fiasco. I think Intel pushed 180nm and 130nm processes to the point where yields collapse every time someone farts in his bunny suit.>>

hehe. But when Intel was pushing the PIII they had too, Athlon was eating their lunch. With P4, they are under a lot less pressure since they have a comfortable MHz lead.

Yeah, and this Pru guy seems to be sucking the bunny suit wind!!!
