Gord, thank you for your next, I stepped back and responded to this message on a report for a different message. I hope this is true.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States believes opposition fighters and U.S. troops have surrounded Osama bin Laden in a cave complex near Tora Bora, a senior military official told CNN Thursday.

The official would not be specific about the size of the area bin Laden was believed to be in.

While acknowledging bin Laden could still slip out of the Tora Bora can get him before Christmas?"

The report came on the same day the Pentagon released a videotape showing bin Laden talking with associates about the planning and details of the attacks on New York and Washington.

On the tape, bin Laden brags in Arabic he knew about the attacks beforehand and says the World Trade Center's destruction exceeded his hopes.

"We calculated in advance the number of casualties from the enemy, who would be killed based on the position of the tower," he says on the tape. "We calculated that the floors that would be hit would be three or four floors. I was the most optimistic of them all." ([43]Full story)

U.S. warplanes delivered punishing attacks Thursday on al Qaeda positions in the mountainous region of eastern Afghanistan where bin Laden is thought to be hiding. Eastern Alliance and U.S. troops unleashed machine gun and cannon fire on suspected al Qaeda cave hideouts. ([44]Full story)

Meanwhile, anti-Taliban and U.S. forces continued to hunt for Taliban ruler Mullah Mohammed Omar and his supporters. The best U.S. intelligence indicated Omar was in Helmond province, to the west of Kandahar, a senior military official said.

Eastern Alliance commanders had given al Qaeda fighters until noon local time to surrender bin Laden and his inner circle. After the deadline passed, al Qaeda fighters told CNN in a radio conversation they would not end their holy war until the United States is destroyed.

I think bia, OKA <g> is really seeking to complement Scott as she remembers that Bill Gates and Peter Jennings are in the same illustrious company, college non-graduates.

I don't think <g> thinks about Bill Gates or Peter Jennings at all. I think bonnuss thinks that because someone doesn't have a college education that they are somehow unqualified or unable to have valuable or valid opinions about most anything. That's what I think.

My husband has an Ivy League college education, and I have been exposed to this elitist attitude at reunions and of course in everyday life. It is very real, and frankly, rather tacky.
