Jachowski There are no 'comfort zones' within this article. So, make your mind up now if you want to read on! There is much that needs to be set forth within the limitations of 750 ENGLISH words . This article deals with amnesty for ILLEGAL ALIENS as it relates to recognized American political parties, the AFL-CIO's sell out of American citizenship; the average American citizen; and other LEGAL folks sharing our emotional and economic wealth. Illegal aliens, and those who would exploit that status for political and financial gain, need to understand some simple and straightforward things about the average American citizens. These are: We want to always be a nation that has both physical and emotional room for non-Americans who come to our shores via legal means. Please recognize, however, that this is not 1492, and our capacity to take in the entire suffering world is not without limitations. That is why, we welcome those non- Americans who respect the need for law and order, and are willing to follow legal procedures before and after entering this country. Such fundamental respect for our legal processes is appreciated by us, and builds the framework for you to become an American citizen if that is your dream. We recognize that there will be some LIMITED exceptions to this general rule. We already know, without being lectured, that some few exceptions to this exist. We ask that you not, however, abuse our civic generosity by demonizing us if we say we cannot accept all illegal aliens 'carte blanc'. For you to ask us to do that is to abuse our generosity, and discount everything that represents American citizenship. We realize that you want to come here to better your economic, social, emotional and political situations. Many of those same motives are what prompted our ancestors to leave their worlds behind and make a better life. We know, without being lectured, that the methods and means to achieve dominance on this landscape are not without blemish; but neither are they without pride. History is always something in the 'making'. This is a reality that applies to every culture on this planet, no matter how hard some might want to manipulate history to the contrary. It is part of being human. We take our citizenship for granted as a result of living 'free' for centuries. Don't mistake this, however, for not knowing what it means to be an American. More importantly, don't mistake this ease of citizenship for not knowing or having forgotten what it really takes to be an American. This nation did not get to where it is at today without working through some very difficult times, and agreeing to some ground rules about how to run the nation. We know that union leadership and political parties will sacrifice principle for power. This translates into a willingness to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens just to try and garner their votes and membership. We are not fools. Sometimes, however, our elected officials and labor organizations act as though we are. They try and 'wordsmith' their intended actions to achieve their goals. Americans of all persuasions see this for what it is - a total sell out of our American citizenship just to gain power. We do not respect or want this. We know that many of you cross our borders with dreams in your heart for yourselves and your family. We know also, that some of you come to exploit our generosity, abuse our legal system and garner illegal wealth. Please try and understand, however, that the United States cannot, and should not, be the sole national source where fairytales come true. We do not think ourselves unreasonable to expect that more of you turn and face the problems in your own nations. To decide that you must create within your own borders a life that is worth living. It is not good enough to simply walk away and leave the troubles behind you. We know, without being lectured, that oppression exists. We know also, however, that far too often, that 'walking' is the economic development tool that your own leaders are pushing and promoting because they are not meeting the challenge of 'nation building'. It is much easier for governments to have people leave, then to have citizens stay and insist that their leaders work to establish a political, economic, and emotional infrastructure that allows people to flourish and prosper. So, before you accuse us of racism and selfishness, please try and remember that respect for legal processes is necessary to keep this nation so successful, and to share in its spiritual benefits.
