Three points only define a circle (or a plane) if they are non-colinear. Even then a circle is only a two-dimensional figure. You need four (non-coplanar) points to define a sphere, which is a three dimensional object. (All this assuming Euclidean geometry).

Your electrical engineering also seems a bit rusty. DC is used in low voltage applications (like inside your PC). AC is used in long-distance transmissions. The major reason why AC became the standard vs. the DC that Edison championed is because of its superior transmission capabilities. If the power grid ran DC you'd need a generator station on every block (which is what Edison envisioned).
