On a similar note, I've begun to read the Koran, as I didn't want to develop a dislike of Islam from being ignorant. Unfortunately, the more I've read it, the less fond I am of that particular religion. Any thoughts?

No. I should pay more attention to the religion I was brought up in, much less that one. The Middle East terrorist problem sure reared its ugly head a lot worse than anyone in this country thought possible. The analysts on the business shows are really talking a lot now about how we let our guard down in the Clinton administration, including in defense spending. They're also saying that increased defense spending will be good for technology stocks. Fine with me, that's where I'm at mostly.

OT Z, <Unfortunately, the more I've read it, the less fond I am of that particular religion. Any thoughts?>

As a Christian who's seen the Bible taken out of context more times than not, I suggest you talk to a Muslim scholar. Personally, I'm of the belief that Islam is not the peaceful religion that our politically correct society makes it out to be. But I'm willing to talk to a Muslim scholar first and learn more about his or her views before jumping to conclusions.

Being in academia, you should have no problem finding a Muslim to talk to there. Just beware of all of the politically correct thought control out there. ;-)
