I had an optical mouse that was USB and I would get these unaccountable freezes...

I replaced one optical USB mouse with another and it works fine. So it wasn't that optical USB mice don't work well on my system, but rather that I had a POS optical mouse. I think USB is very vulnerable to POS equipment being plugged in to it.

Bill, I just purchased a Microsoft USB optical wheel mouse 3 months ago. No problems with it. You just have to buy Microsoft to work with Microsoft OS. LOL

PS you still have to clean fuzz out of the LED cavity.
