"I only denigrate you folks because you are liars and twits."

Funny.. I heard thru the grapevine that Paul Engel had been banned from here.. I didnt realize he changed his name

:)

Why so hostile? All you need to do if you disagree with whatever is being said is to put forward your arguments in a logical manner... whats the point of insulting people? Yelling louder doesnt make your point better.

"As for "derogation," I only denigrate you folks because you are liars and twits."

And all the liars and twits on the Intel thread are better because?...

You had a meeting with McCarthy? He is still working? I didn't know that. Geeze, his first papers on AI had to've been almost 50 years ago...

Yeah, the describing of AI as "true intelligence" is a bit over-blown. What they are grasping for might be better described as 'self-aware" and we are no where near that. Just emulating an ant or an Aplysia would be a major accomplishment. At this point in time, expert systems and neural nets are the best we can do. And a neural net, at best, can emulate things a retina or the processing in the spinal column, not what we would describe as "true intelligence". Expert systems are just and aid, again not "true intelligence".

Now I am familiar with computer vision and I am grappling somewhat with Intel connecting it with AI. At best, I would guess they are doing an artificial retina. Is this just some image recognition stuff?
