HJ -- the "problem" with the yen is that the Japanese government is using it as a tool to try to export their way out of their economic mess -- it has not worked for ten years and it won't work now. The yen is only weak because the Japanese government has wanted it that way -- it is a failed policy. The US dollar has problems that just get deeper each year - and don't ever forget it. The kind of problem that the dollar has will come home to roost in time. I am NOT saying you should bet against the dollar right now. But it is simply impossible to run a massive current account deficit forever without harming the currency -- precisely the situation with the US dollar.
