michael, Re: Inflation

How can we have inflation with the American debt load and over capacity?

Straford announced that Japan is devaluating tonight. The rest of asia will have to follow suit. Off the top of my head this should make it more difficult for Europe and American corporations to compete.

BWDIK,

Joan

Michael, inflation WOULD be good at this time, but i don't see how we could possibly get one going, at least not for the next few years. as you correctly state, it is labor that stands to gain most. this will be proven out in the next K upwave, when labor's share of output is set to take from capital's share (the opposite was true during the disinflation downwave from '82 to '98).

as i mentioned before, i'm on occasion going to post in detail how i interpret what is happening and what my conclusions are and why. i'll be more than happy to debate the issue further - the deflation/inflation debate is one of the most important of all, as a lot depends on which of the two is going to reign in the next few years.
