Re: Did you write that yourself, or are you quoting from Bin Laden's video tape?

Well.... Sorry for playing the bird of ill omen but I'm afraid that so-called "smoking-gun videotape" is just a dubbed movie.... I mean the original soundtrack's been doctored. You Yanks are not familiar with dubbed movies, are you? Anyway, over here in Europe, dubbed US movies/TV-series make up most of our daily "flick diet". Coach potatoes across Europe watch Dynasty, Colombo, Star Trek, etc. dubbed in French, German, Italian, whatever... and it works! I mean Peter Falk's (aka Inspecteur Colombo) French is excellent <g>. After all, Bin Laden's lingo is Arabic, not some obscure Afghan patois --hence, it shouldn't be that difficult to find a proper Arabic speaker to dub him.

Now, the snag is, how long will the Pentagon trick hold out? It could backfire on them if other, uncensored copies of the Bin Laden video are circulating --I guess the US struck a deal with Al-Jazeera to impose a blackout on Bin Laden's video-trail.... (I guess that's why the video wasn't released by the Justice Department nor by the State Dept.)

Gus.

BTW, other non-Arab pundits are also skeptical about the genuineness of the Bin Laden video, like that French outfit:

The attack on parliament has prompted calls from within India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for India to cross the Line of Control in "hot pursuit" of Kashmiri militants.

"India is an angry nation today. People are demanding stern action. We have given enough evidence to Pakistan," Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha told reporters in Madras.

Don't think Osama has ever said anything negative about leftists. Why would he. I've listened to some of his past pronouncements and except for the Islamic rhetoric, the things he says are straight out of the Chomsky anti-American canon.

Among his complaints against America are:

1) America troops in Saudi Arabia and America involvement in the Muslim world - Chomskyitess are against American military involvement anywhere and everywhere.
2) American bombing and economic blockade of Iraq - Chomskyites agree.
3) American support of Israel - ditto.
4) In one video, he criticized America for using atomic weapons against Japan at the end of WWII - ditto again.

Another agreement between Osama and Chomskyites:

Osama has proclaimed that America deserved 9/11 and the terrorist attack against America was a righteous act - see Finkelstein's quote - Frankly, part of me says - even though everything since September 11 has been a nightmare--'you know what, we deserve the problem on our hands because some things Bin Laden says are true'. One of the things he said on that last tape was that 'until we live in security, you're not going to live in security', and there is a certain amount of rightness in that.
