If an atheist is in a Spanish speaking country and someone says, "Vaya con Dios", "Dios te bendiga", or any one of a number of things using the word Dios should the atheist take offense and feel someone is trying to ran GOD down their throats? IMO a proper reaction would be to say, Gracias and continue with whatever one was going to do, without getting upset at all.

"it would be appropriate in consideration of atheists ..." Right! I notice how careful atheists are to not speak of their beliefs in front of non-atheists. Turn on PBS and see how our government is funding atheistic worldview propaganda. Go to any public school or university, and note how atheistic naturalism is shoved down students throats. Why is it that an atheist teacher in can ridicule religion in class without incurring the wrath of the ACLU, but a Christian teacher can not even tell students what they believe without facing dismissal. If anybody is trying to ram a worldview down anybody's throats, it is the < 10% of people in this country who profess to be atheists trying to convert the rest of us to their belief system. The first weapon in atheistic evangelism is to put atheism outside of "religious" discussion. That is, it is rational to be an atheist, but not to be a person of faith. Once this fallacious argument is asserted, then anybody who disagrees with atheism is irrational, and the only appropriate place for any religious discussion is in the midst of other like-minded irrational people. Clearly, the vocal atheists that dominate the public arena are intolerant hypocrites
