If this does not happen I need some one to explain to me how we could have inflation

Don't think of price stability as an unchanging number of dollars to purchase X, think instead of the number of hours you have to work to make a car payment. Dollars aren't an absolute measure of value. If they crank up the printing presses monetary inflation will go up, regardless of what the economy is doing.

Historically, runaway inflation hasn't been synonymous with booming economies, rather with sinking economies.
