RR,

<< I'm the guy that management brings in to tell the CEO's and the Board of Directors things that management doesn't want to tell them themselves. I tell them how the cow eats the cabbage and what they have to do, right now.

I save them money if they do what I tell them to do.
If they don't, then we end up in litigation a lot of times. Then I get to tell them "I told you so" and then I make more money.>>

My practice is in a different area than yours, but you struck a particularly sensitive nerve with the above statement. In my experience, too many lawyers shy away from the direct path in giving advice to clients, and find themselves between a rock and a hard place later as a result. I often tell my own that they didn't hire me to tell them what they WANT to hear, but rather to tell them what they NEED to hear. Credibility over cheerleading usually brings longer-term respect. Gotta be careful with the "I told you so" comebacks, though. lol

Sounds like you really enjoy your profession/career (I doubt you think of it as a "job" in the traditional sense). Why am I not surprised?

Have a great weekend.

RR: You clearly have an interesting job...

Advising management, putting out fires, telling a board what they need to hear --> full of lots of challenges. Thanks for sharing some insights on what you do for a living.

We clearly have a diverse group of contributors out on this porch.

Best Regards,

Scott
