rudedog, Given that DEC had nearly 500 vice-presidents and CPQ less than 50 at the time of the merger, I'd say that the CPQ bloodline pretty much wiped out the DEC heritage in senior management. So you're saying it's the CPQ executives that have caused the company to stumble to the point where being acquired appears the best way to increase shareholder equity? Now, there's a glowing recommendation. <G> As for the path the foundation has taken, they've 1) announced how they're going to vote their shares (their right to do so), and filed a proxy with their reasons (versus the laughable fact that the pro-merger camp still has not filed a proxy explaining why this is a good deal for HP -- talk about "lazy"! <G>), and 2) sent a letter to the boards asking them to call off the merger (not sure where this stands legally, but I'd guess it's okay since I'd bet they had the lawyers check it out first). What is your beef with these activities? If the foundation starts contacting individual shareholders, my guess is that they'll step over the line. But has been addressed, "passive" activities appear to be okay. Dave
