Having recently tried out Dale's chatroom I can attest that it is indeed low key, informative and very user friendly. However, given my circumstances of being on different computers at different times of the day I can't always catch up on things there, so it wouldn't replace a message board for me. I see a chat room and a message board as complementary pieces and will use both, especially if they're run by quality folks like Tom and Dale.
