bia...a D & C usually meant that the woman had had a miscarriage or had a growth or infection that needed to be cleaned out. The idea was to simply dilate and then scrape the uterus, etc. I had two D & Cs for a mis and for a growth. I would assume that drs. still use this procedure for non-abortion procedures?
