First off the Shield, would be useless against anything other than a ballistic missile, of which dirty bombs and anything Bin Laden can do is outside anything a shield can protect against. In my view the Shield is basically useless at the cost of 100B

The type of "dirty" bomb most likely to be used by bin Laden's group is barely nuclear at all. It would be the nuclear waste, the remnants of a nuclear energy or weapons program. This type of bomb would not explode but quantities of uranium of the wrong isotope, and strontium, and other radioactive materials could be distributed by a conventional bomb, or even a dump truck to radioactively pollute large sections of a city. It would be a very very expensive cleanup even if there were no mushroom cloud. TP
