UF, actually, it was originally Jon who started the apostrophe business, when I used It's as in God's and he thought It shouldn't get an apostrophe. But of course It should, being sentient.

I was amused by his "apostrophe alert" warning and picked it up.

In case anyone cares, it's good to use an apostrophe in it's as in "it is" abbreviated, but uncool in its as in "its eyes are green" [with envy of course]. But when it is actually It, then of course It gets an apostrophe, as well as genuflection and a salute. Some bowing would be in order too [or kneeling to be on the safe side].

Nobody has any idea whether "people's houses" should have an apostrophe before or after the s. I supposed that's because people can itself be singular or plural.

I wonder if Jon knows.
