Correct, I must say this is the biggest snow job in history. Today there are five countries with launch capability and global reach and they are the US, Russia, France, Great Britain and China. The US and Russia have the vast majority of ballistic missiles (more than 90%) and China is a distant follower and not stupid enough to commit mass suicide. India and Pakistan and North Korea are trying to build missiles with reach but are not there yet. No other country is even close.

The "Rogue" nations whoever they are don't even have fighter aircraft let alone ballistic missiles.

We could defend America against missile attack by using the Bush manifesto. Proclaim that if you are building launch sites and missiles you are a "rogue nation" and the US will blow up the site. I figure we could defend ourselves this way for 50 years at the cost of a few billion dollars about 95 billion less than shield that won't work will cost.

We could declare that all the countries that have capability must freeze at current level or we declare them a "rogue" as well. This fits right in with the Admin's tough guy philosophy and it will work.

We could also give a $1B reward to those countries that dismantle what they have, potentially paying out 10B or so. Thus it would save 85B and rid the world of the nuclear ballistic missile threat except for us and it would work whereas the shield won't and will cause an arms race to boot. Of course the real threat would still exist, in the form os suitcase, bombs, non ballistic missiles etc, of which the shield doesn't work anyway.

Problem is the defense porksters would get cut even more, oh well. Blow em up it's good for business

" The shield is useful only to those that will get the giant defense contracts to develop and
build the dinosaur."

So the Bush administrations builds the shield as pay back to its big corporate customers.........
