AHAA has certainly looked perky on the news. I agree this makes much more sense than TQNT/SAWS and so far the market response seems encouraging. Here are some comments:

Cibc World Markets issued a note to clients stating the Alpha Industries(AHAA) merger with Conexant(CNXT) is an example of the strong orders for wireless chips. Firm feels orders for Alpha's products are strong and they are on track with regards to both the top and bottom line numbers. Views AHAA as a top pick in the "wireless world".

06:53 ET Conexant (CNXT) 15.86: Enters definitive agreement that will combine its wireless business with Alpha Industries (AHAA 21.20). Under terms of the agreement, CNXT holders would own approx. 67% of the combined company and AHAA holders approx. 33%. The combined company would be valued at roughly $3 bln.

07:00 ET Conexant (CNXT) 15.86: -- Update -- Co expects DecQ revenues to rise approx. 10% on a sequential basis. The current consensus estimate indicates that Wall Street had expected DecQ rev to climb about 6%. CNXT says its revenue outlook has improved largely as a result of stronger-than-expected performance in its Wireless Communications Division, which is now forecast to grow approximately 35% sequentially. Rev from co's broadband access business are also somewhat stronger than anticipated.

11:13 ET RF Micro Device (RFMD) 22.83 -0.51 (-2.2%): Wall Street generally positive on news CNXT and AHAA will merge their wireless component businesses. Firms also are commenting on expected losers in the deal. ABN AMRO sees the combined company competing more strongly with RFMD in the wireless handset biz. Trading floor sources at CIBC World Mkts telling us that firm expects smaller players, like ANAD (-2.3%), to get marginalized.
