Nice comment Eric. It pays to bring all the baggage into the light when trying to figure out the latest press release. Too often we perform a 7 minute dissection of the press release.

The USA is certainly the most 'challenged' of the world's wireless network operations, thank goodness innovation is driving the cart and politics is only along for the ride.

slacker, Eric...anecdotal evidence to support your takes: VZ store m'g'r indicated no definite time line as to when 1x handsets available; when I was waiting for the Thin Phone (2760, I think), back in 1999, VZ tech managers said it was undergoing a six-month testing program before release.

Btw, I've given up on VZ as ISP (originally recommended by a tech-savvy friend, the legacy platform was OK; once VZ "upgraded" and forced all off the platform to the new one between March and September, it's been a disaster. I'm not surprised VZ has merged its data network operation into the voice operation, much to Seybold's dismay--VZ has absolutely no clue about data--wireline or mobile).
