VIA - Lawsuit Limited Co's Chipset Mkt Shr Couldn't happen to a nicer rip-off artist. TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--VIA Technologies Inc. (Q.VIA) is still in talks with Intel Corp. (INTC) over its Pentium-4 lawsuit with the U.S. chip giant, Via Chief Executive Chen Wen-chi said Monday. However, he added he remains optimistic that his company and Intel can find a way to cooperate together in the P 4 market. VIA Technologies had hoped to capture 80% of the global chipset market share, but because of the lawsuit that now appears to be impossible, Chen said, without elaborating. The tit-for-tat legal battle with Intel over the P 4X 266 chipset began several months ago when the U.S. company filed a lawsuit against VIA and the Taiwan company responding in kind soon after that. Intel is alleging VIA has infringed on a patent and VIA is alleging infringement and anticompetitive behavior.
