At the end of the day, CDMA2000 with guard bands is still superior to UMTS without. I haven't kept up, it may very well be that amplifier linearity makes the whole discussion irrelevant.

By the way, how is the WCDMA filter technology going?

I know this is dated, but it is still is applicable. The so-called efficiencies of UMTS are questionable and not worth it considering the delay and the complexity.

I know this is ancient history, and no longer relevant except to those who discuss pin-dancing angels, but Gilhousen's article needs to be memorized by those who might consider political expediency ahead of technological realities. If Gilhousen would have been listened to, would Europe be in the sorry state in which it is vis-a-vis 3G? I daresay not.
