Yes, Les, of course. But we're in the land of SPIN now, aren't we? Seems much easier to spin this as a positive than a negative. Of course, perhaps today's GE move was in relation to this "new" guidance.

reality seeps back in--how convenient that it happens to coincide with the GAAP goodwill freebie.

back before the bull market, when the long bond was at 10%+, GE's long-term return estimate was 5% or 6%...now that the long bond is under 6%, they have a double-digit pension estimate?

gotta love institutional memory.
