Local (large) Verizon outlet today advised that the Nokia 3285 & LG 510's were leading sellers in the store with the Nokia 5185ipp doing very well on the prepaid side. Advised that between the two models Nokia was leading seller by brand.

I think the only way to interpret Nokia's latest statements on CDMA is that they must be taking significant share in CDMA in both North and South America. One thing I havent been able to figure out is who is losing share....Audiovoxx? Kyocera?

I listened to some of the analyst day presentations but didnt hear anything about 1xrtt. Did they give an update on their planned release of a 1x handset?

Data point for central PA:

Today my son went to the local VZ store to change his service plan. In the process
he
was offered (and accepted) a new Nokia 5185i for free. On the box the phone
came in
was the following designation: 5185iVA 556sd1a5 1xRTT. Also the words: Phone
made in
S. Korea.

Now we all know that Telson is making the 5185i for NOK. But I was unaware that
a
1xRTT version was now available (I could have missed the announcement, of
course).

It would appear that:

1. NOK is currently supplying 1xRTT phones to VZ with Q chips inside, since NOK
has
no 1xRTT chip.

2. VZ is currently busy seeding their network with 1xRTT phones (in this area, at
least).

In light of (1), what should we make of the long standing NOK claim that they don't
use Q
chips?

Illmarian-Humbug! lol!
