There is no compelling reason to upgrade computers in offices since everyone did it in late 1999 and early 2000.
Unless you are a graphic artist or multi-media developer, there are few reasons in an office justify that kind of power.

Agreed
how about two complelling reasons not to upgrade
1) Cost
2) XP

XP is going to kill the upgrade market IMHO.
Who wants it?
Who needs it?
It will lock companies into a forced maintenance cycle.

Not gonna happen.
Except over time. A long time.
Let's see how long MSFT holds out without concessions.
I suppose they could drop support of Windows 2000 and NT
Will they go that route?

aj, i agree with that, i use macs and pc's and have resisted upgrading a lot of stuff for a long time, and the super growth years of the pc are probably behind us, but

i think there are a lot of people out their like me, and the friggen computer industry is bent on keeping everybody on this upgrade cycle,

When somebody hands u off a disk or a file built on adobe illustrator 10 and you haven't upgraded since AI 6, your in trouble.

Even though the newest upgrades in software don't always provide big benefits to the largest group of users, it almost becomes like your annual car license, because you have to keep up with the latest,

which uses more mhz, more disk space, more memory

The hot sellers this xmas are digital cameras and DVD's, this is more digital doo doo foder.
