I'm not claiming that the SAC BEE is not biased. Nor am saying that I share their ideas. I might even find myself offended by a number of their ideas. I am only arguing that the proper response to a speach you find offensive is not to shout it down. You can walk out in protest, you can set up your own speach or write your own article (or SI post :) arguing against the ideas you disagree with but its not a good idea to shout speakers down. If the speach actually is offensive then refusing to sit and listen to it makes a statement, and if need be you can continue to make other statements later putting it down. Or maybe you can even express that you are offended during the speach but only in realtivly extreme circumstances and I don't think you should do it so loud or so long that the speach can not be given.

I remember hearing of this tactic used too often against conservatives. I didn't like it then and I'm not going to change my opinion of the tactic just because it is used by liberals.
