Regardless of who I may agree with, I make decisions independently. I am not "desperate" to justify anything. You, on the other hand..... Too bad you're in such a funk at such a wonderful time of year. You don't work for the Sacramento Bee, do you? No, if you worked for the Bee it's unlikely the fate of the human race would concern you that much -- maybe the fate of Fairy Shrimp or Pond Scum. Take it easy on the egg nog.
