Over the last week is up 9% and has advanced 14.5% off the Nov low. The index (XAU) is now probing resistance in the 56.15/56.59 area (62% retrace of Sep/Nov slide and Nov high). This area has proven to be a pivotal level and when combined with the top heavy indicators that the recent surge has created suggests that sustained action above resistance could prove difficult short term.
