Actually, a great killer ap for businesses would be desktop video conferencing. It is something that has been limited by bandwidth and processing power. There are so many possibilities for sales people who could use this technology if it were cheap and widely available. You could show samples and discuss them, demonstrate them, and negotiate all in real time.

If we could get this cheap, it would require lots of desktop upgrades to add faster processors and memory as well as displays. Just my view. Software, switches, routers, would also need to be added.

Win XP..
I was of the same opionion after reading the "so called experts" reviews of Windows XP until I tried it for myself.
I am not LONG Microsoft.

Win XP may actually hurt hardware sales but help replacement memory sales. I know the "in vogue" thing is to bash everything that comes out of Redmond. The fact is on a machine with 500 MB of memory 750 mhz and up. Windows XP flies. It is light years ahead of any Windows operating system hands down. Applications that used to take 40-45 seconds to come up now come up in under 10. Booting the machine is lightening fast, crashes are non existent. Sharing desktops is now clean and seamless... IMO people should try it out and make their own conclusions rather than listening to the liberal media lemmings.
