You probably never used Windows 2000 or NT then, right? Cause Windows XP is based on Windows 2000/NT core.

I have a XP machine too yet I still use my Win 2000 one mainly cause I've seen no reason to transfer all my data and files to the XP one. My Windows 2000 PC has been running with no reboots no crashes for 6 months straight now. And I use it for everything. From digital pictures to video to word processing. Windows XP just does not have the "must have" unique application to make people want to spend another $2K when they have a perfectly good computer at home. How much starting faster new apps save you? A few seconds every time? Is that worth an extra $2k when you know something better will always be around the corner?

Also XP has a lot of driver problems. If your hardware peripherals don't have a XP driver you are out of luck. I use a SMC wireless networking system and they have no XP drivers. That means no wireless networking for the XP machine. Also lots of horror stories on the newsgroups on crashes and unstable XP systems mainly due to drivers. I suggest you look into the XP newsgroups if you don't believe me.
