I don't know. Consider a poor family, who had lost a family member due to gross negligence of a hospital. They have a really good case, and the lawyers thinks he can make a lot of money. But the problem is, you would then have to be bonded for x amount of money before the case will even be considered. The family can not be bonded simply because they have no assets and very little income. So, to what degree would the lawyer being willing to risk his own money in order to bring the case forward. I think there would be a measurable decline in cases, yes, but also in justice. And a measurable increase in incidents of gross negligence.

The legal system is a mess, but I do not favor anything that would limit the potency of the individuals ability to protect himself from corporations and the government.

I guess you have seen the recent stories on asbestos. The companies knew that it caused cancer, but used it anyway. This is unexcusable, IMO. These companies should pay. And if there was no legal system, then they would just shell out a few bucks to their favorite politicians and the case would be closed.

On another legal note, did you watch or hear about the Brown's game yesterday? The NFL has a rule, that a play can not be reviewed after the next play has been run. But the refs reversed a play after the next play had been run. And there is no review. This is a clear example of what can happen in a society where the same people who make the rules enforce the rules. There is no justice.
