Ram: Corporate sector's fear of new capital investments.... I dunno if it's Corporate sector fear, per se, though I'm sure it's an element. I prefer to think of it as lender/banker fear. Given the past couple of years they seem absolutely petrified at the prospects of taking a chance. I say this because despite money that's almost "free" still, loan covenants and requirements are about as stiff as you can imagine. Or maybe I'm merely projecting what I've been seeing in telecom. ;-)

We have passed the Personal Computer wave and the Internet craze....

Agreed, though I do think some aspects of telecom tech. should be an interesting place to be longer term. That is, those areas focusing on the paradigm shift now underway in the network, eg. VoIP (Voice over Internet Packet). The economies are huge and the equipment is finally coming sufficiently down the curve to be of interest to engineers and network planners.

Another area I'm finding interesting, finally, given the aging demographics of the Boomer generation is bio-tech. I think some companies in that sector are on the cusp of some great things (AMGN/IMNX being but two examples you've already mentioned). But even so, it's a "pickers" market these days as the bubble's burst and will not soon be re-inflated....

Regards!

John~

Ram, I should mention that the individual I quoted in my post is considered by some in the business to be from the bearish camp. On the weekend I heard another guy who is more to my liking (since I'm an optimist) voice the opinion that we should see a strong turn-around begin within the the next two months. He is basing it on the cumulative effect of the Fed cuts, among other things. Won't be long before we'll know.
