That article doesn't seem to connect cause and effect. And with the global recession and lower demand for fossil fuels, doesn't it only make sense that the carbon dioxide produced from burning fossil fuels wouldn't be as severe?

Doesn't matter what the facts are. When science is motivated by politics, the result is political science, inherently unreliable <g> (I can say that because I'm an engineering dropout who wound up with double majors in political science and economics).
