Hmmmm getting close to year end and you want predictions for the future. Guess its the time of year for it. :)

I'll think about it a bit. I'm a bit removed from the day to day for any new innovations. Which is just as well since I tend to think the next 5 years will tend more towards conservatism and consolidating innovations. It may sound obvious but we had a real explosive period in the 90s, both in valuations and in product and service innovation. We have gotten a head of ourselves a bit. That has been clear in valuations. It has not been as clear that we also got ahead of ourselves in accounting practices (as Enron and other fiascos show). It is also been the case in products and services, not just financial. I tend to think of markets and the economy as a whole as an organic entity. We've had a tremendous growth spurt but now need to go back and fill in the details. So I suspect we are in for a period of consolodiation in financial innovation and markets. Just a quick guess.
