Mr. George Plewes of Canabrava reports
Airborne geophysics have commenced on the new Mistassini project in Quebec.
With an operational base in Chibougamau, the survey will consist of 7,370
line kilometre at 150-metre line spacing. It is slated to be completed by
year-end. The survey will assist in defining drill targets at the head of
each of the of the distinctive dispersion trains of kimberlitic indicator
minerals already defined by Majescor on the project. Canabrava and Majescor
intend to be in a position to drill any high-priority targets in the first
quarter of next year. Majescor is the operator of the project.
Of interest, Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. and its partner Soquem announced
that the two kimberlitic pipes recently drilled to the north of the
Mistassini property are significantly diamondiferous. Similarly, the Beaver
Lake kimberlite, located just east of the Mistassini property, has also
proved to carry both macrodiamonds and a significant population of G10
garnets. This confirms that the entire region (over 40,000 square
kilometres) has potential to host diamondiferous kimberlite pipes.
