Eliot Cohen. Don't be so scared of Bolton; my hunch is that ultimately he's a junior player rather than somebody with real power. Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz--in that order--are all more important. Agree on your assessments of the early chapters (although some people have liked the Ajami piece more than the two of us did); curious to hear you continue the survey as appropriate down the road. One minor point. I agree entirely that, ceteris paribus, novelty is interesting and exciting--but at the end of the day, being right is more important than being new (especially when there's so much crap out there). So while, say, the Jenkins doesn't break much fresh ground, you can take it (and him) to the bank, which is important. Think about it this way: that piece, I gather, was written in mid-October.
