It isn't looking good for a stimulus package:

"U.S. House Republicans said they planned to bring their own revised economic stimulus package to the floor for a vote on Wednesday, dashing hopes for a bipartisan plan that could win passage by both the Republican-led House and Democratic-controlled Senate."

That's one of the classic signs that a bottom is in for semi-equips: when semis in commodity markets can't stand the pain any longer, and exit that market. The only thing lacking, from this "bottoming" sign, was that Toshiba was able to find a buyer. So, maybe we need to wait until semis can't find any buyers for their fabs, and they just have to close them down, write it off, and walk away.

I wonder if Toshiba got paid in MU (stock), like TI did in 1998. That turned out OK for TI.
