Agreed, but it is encouraging. It's hard to deny the logic that if the fanatic believes that the proof of the "rightness" and divine sanction of his cause is victory then defeat will inevitably call those assumptions into question.

Maybe so, but the first step is to crush it without remorse. Then we can address some of the root causes. Some article said that the only thing we needed to know about Hitler was that he had to be stopped. The same thing goes for these suicide bombers and terrorists. We don't need to understand what their perceived grievances are. We just need to eliminate them. Then we can take a look at what spawns them. I think Bush thinks this way too. So beware you fanatics out there. You'll get your martyrdom alright, but you won't achieve your objective of killing innocent civilians in the numbers you'd like and what you find on the other side of life won't be what you were looking for.
